Family Reunion

We headed out to Iowa near the beginning of July for a family reunion that my mother's side has every 5 years. We stayed in the small town of Story City and were close to my grandparents who live in Roland, about 45 minutes north of Des Moines. The 12 hour car trip out there wasn't too bad, although the last couple of hours became a whine fest consisting of "are we there yet" every 10 minutes. 31 family members were able to attend and the kids had a blast with all kinds of cousins. Activities consisted of riding the tractor around the neighborhood, catching fireflies, riding a 100 year old carousel, swimming at the hotel and eating A LOT of good food. Below are some pictures of some of the fun.

We all had such a wonderful time visiting with the family. Because my grandparents are geting older, we aren't waiting 5 years for the next reunion. We are having the next reunion in two years.....in Colorado! My parents and Greg and I are hosting and it is sure to be a huge blast!

My boys' favorite part of our trips to WI are catching fireflies! Until they started to discover this, well, it just never really dawned on me that d'oh, we don't have fireflies here, do we?

Sounds like a great adventure and how fun that ya'll get to play hostess in 2 years!
